Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Michael Stackhouse, at
7:00 PM, with 19 members and guests present.
Minutes: The Secretary, Karen Horgan, presented the minutes from the March 2022 general meeting. The minutes were approved as presented.
Financial Report: The treasurer, Frederick Sehapayak, presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1,008.65. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
Speakers:
Mimi Coffey, candidate for House District 99, urged all members of NWTP to continue to engage and keep working hard to help win elections and turn Tarrant blue. Activism is important and will facilitate change. Property Tax is one of the biggest issues faced in the next session. She thanked everyone for their diligence and dedication and encouraged everyone to stay involved.
Michael Stackhouse led a discussion about the upcoming Municipal Elections (May 7) and the Primary Runoff Election (May 24). Election judges and clerks are needed now and moving forward. Please volunteer.
The State Democratic Convention will be in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center July 14-16. State delegates are needed. Even if you are not a delegate, you can attend and hear many of the candidates statewide speak.
Announcements:
Election Integrity forum on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the County Commissioner’s Court. Our election process is being threatened. There is a small group that is very active in Tarrant County which is trying to dismantle our Elections Administration Office and the method of voting and counting votes in Tarrant County. To counter this attack on our elections, please attend this forum.
April 30, 2022 will be a block walk in our area for Gwenn Burud. Please try to attend and help Gwenn get her message out.
