Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by the club president, Michael Stackhouse, at 7:00 PM, with 10 members and guests present. We met at Rosa’s Cafe in Lake Worth.


Minutes: The Secretary, Sally Craig, presented the minutes from the August 2023 general meeting. The minutes were approved as presented


Financial Report: The Treasurer, Haley Stackhouse presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1616.13. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  

Michael Stackhouse discussed the upcoming Saginaw Train and Grain Festival and that we had missed the deadline for a booth providing food so we will just be registering voters and providing the treasure hunt for the kids.

He discussed the upcoming County and State Conventions and that he would have more information to share as we get closer to the events.

He reminded us about the club’s election for new officers will be held at the November meeting and anyone interested in serving should be sure to run.

He also informed us that we will not have a club meeting in December but will be attending a Christmas Party at Mimi Coffey’s. 


Speakers: 

Sabrina Ball

Sabrina is the new District Coordinator for Precinct Chairs in District 99.

She informed us of the upcoming event at Tommy’s Burgers at Ridgmar Mall on Thursday, October 19 from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. It will give us a chance to meet other Democrats in District 99.

She also asked everyone to join the group HD99 Democrats in Facebook/Meta.

She said all the clubs would have our new County Chair Crystal Gayden visiting one of our meetings real soon.

  

Announcements: 

We will be planning our participation in the Saginaw Train & Grain on Saturday, October 21st from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.


Upcoming Activities:

Saturday, October 21st will be the Saginaw Train and Grain in Saginaw.

Financial Report: The Treasurer, Haley Stackhouse presented the financial report, with a cash balance of $1475.53. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.


President’s Report:  

Michael Stackhouse informed the group they should expect various candidates attending our meetings this fall to gather signatures on petitions to waive the filling fees for their campaigns.

He also reminded the group about the upcoming Inaugural Dr. Opal Lee Empowerment Luncheon. This is going to be an annual fundraiser for the Tarrant County Democratic Party.

He discussed the upcoming Saginaw Train and Grain Festival and that we would be teaming up with Rodney Lee. We would have turkey legs and will also be registering voters.

He discussed the upcoming County and State Conventions and that he would have more information to share as we get closer to the events.

Finally, he announced that he will not be available to be our president going forward in the new year because he and his family are moving to Colorado.  The election for new officers will be held at the November meeting and anyone interested in serving should be sure to run.

President’s Report:  Michael Stackhouse reported the results of the Tarrant County Democratic Party Chairman Election held during the Emergency CEC Meeting on July 8th.

Crystal Gayden was elected as the new party chair. She will be hiring a new executive director in the future and the office will run for now with volunteers.

We also discussed the upcoming Constitutional Election for November and the amendment that will be submitted for the reduction in property taxes.
